a brother’s son

screams from sand  

a first sight love  

of lap waves

on east coast.

pale with impatience

joy breaks like waves

across his face

as a wind blows

pants for breath

carry no sorrow  

toward first sight

of North Sea.

and together we go on

man and boy

sand imprints behind us

held hands

steps forward

toward an ocean

cold enough to snatch pride

big enough to dream…
