she will let you know how she feels, in a quiet space

where steam rises from a mug of green tea

and memories of a life spent in each other’s company

fill picture frames found in charity shops.

he will give you his confused eyes from distance

on a sofa built for lounging, as soft words are delivered

in the style of—fully in the right.  

even if unaware words could be spoken from such a considered place

he will sit as though a dog confused, if being treated or told off.
