You allowed unspoken desires to talk to themselves

whispered in your sleep realisations, unremembered.

Where unturned pages met dust, trees fell.

You often considered hell and heaven.

You have a father who was there but rarely present.

A mother gave you emotional intelligence, and an elegance

mirrored in the way she held a smoke to pursed lips.
