How free they look, returning from a place

you were not invited to from the jump.

They’ve been so naturally in love without you.

You tried a walk in a park

the sun cast shadows across evergreens.

The sky cried blues and crimsons until black.

Memories of independence flooded the mind

remember something else—anything but them.
