late last night

I took a train from Praha

to south Moravia

a once freedom ride

escape the communist regime.

once ever-present dreams

became long-gone

freight loads of memory

echoes of childish screams

anxious parents

the forlorn

glazed eye looks

of hopeful passengers.

each of

in their own

motioned way

felt embedded

in the wooden walls
