One night I went walking

towards a roadhouse shack

beside dirt track blues.

I was convinced I was the child of a man

everyone lived in fear of. Once inside of boomerang wood

strips that leaned on one another like friends

the promise of cheap drink consumed me

enough to order. People sat on stools

wore flag caps and oily rags
