these days, there is enough madness
in this world
enough tribal division
in this world
enough, they’re to blame for all my BS
enough political corruption and mainstream lies
drip fed into skulls, emptied out by social media
that what was once considered, normal enough
plenty enough, for the ordinary people
people you see smiling on buses
people stood by water,
enjoying the view
*
people who pray in gratitude for existence
and enjoy quality time with old friends, a good book.
these people, they are the ones who understand
that solitude is righteous,
these are the ones who want
to work for food they put on tables
a love that sleeps beside them.
*
for the mad ones, none of this is enough.
what was once considered enough
is enough for a return to the basement
another crawl down a rabbit hole.
virtues passed on from elders to young
now intercepted online.

many of us have been pulped
by rising costs
by rising violence
by rising institutional greed
and a sweep of refugees hoping
looking to exchange, one bad land for another.
*
as a great collapse in tradition completes
as a mutilation of souls converge
as a crowd gathers to scream in offence
of everything,
as a world without borders
cage the hummingbirds,
today’s difficult conversation
even though it will be tomorrow’s burnt toast
is the one those maddened by society
are incapable of having.
If this is all there is, then let’s keep dancing...
